Galapagos donation: You Book, We Help

By | News | No Comments

Galapagos donation: “The Horizon” tells the story of a young boy in the Galapagos Islands who dreams of learning what lies beyond the horizon…

The story is based on the experience of a guide who currently works aboard our vessel, the M/V Santa Cruz, Christopher Naranjo.

Galapagos donationWhen you buy a cruise online with Metropolitan Touring, the company donates $100 to the Galapagos Defender program, which awards the most gifted and dedicated students in the islands with a cruise-of-a-lifetime aboard the Santa Cruz II. By funding this project, hundreds of students from the Galapagos will be able to reach beyond their horizons.

Top Five Reasons to travel to the the Galapagos

By | News | No Comments

Top five reasons why we, human beings, dream of visiting the Galapagos Islands; The five reasons why these islands have become a must-see destination on so many magazines, why they are today that once-in-a-lifetime cruise destination so many of us want to take advantage of “before we die”; why people get so excited when they finally book that four-day Galapagos tour; why, inevitably, these volcanic islands in the middle of nowhere, once-upon-a-time considered the epitome of earthly wastelands, the haunt of pirates, the Enchanted Isles (“enchanted” not in the good way), today are revered as a wonderland, a paradise, the idyllic vacation… Here are those reasons:

And during Galapagos Islands cruises, of course, you’ve got all of that… but none of “that” is the true essence of the Galapagos tour adventure.

Everywhere you look, the given species will be… well, everywhere! To the point that your eyes can’t actually see all the individuals, even when they are right in front of you… you notice a bird to your left because it twitched, but straight center, at almost no distance, a sudden movement forces you to look at another one that was closer and even more obvious than the other twenty located in your immediate field of vision. It is quite a strange sensation and it happens a lot in the Galapagos Islands.

Galapagos cruises inspire!

Galapagos cruises inspire! It’s almost daily that you read on the internet that somewhere in the world, someone was inspired by a Galapagos cruise they recently participated in. People blog about their adventures, share their pictures of their trip, teachers stick the Galapagos Islands in their syllabus, the Galapagos become a theme at a local town fair, and a recent one I read on the internet just a couple of days ago from a zookeeper and her husband who embarked on a Galapagos cruise some days past: they revamped their zoo’s entire Galapagos tortoise installation with their own money. It must have cost a fortune!
